Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne- everyone seems to have heard this song. It is as recognizable as Happy Birthday, Wedding March, Pomp and Circumstance, and the theme music from Star Wars and Indiana Jones, to name a few.

To me, this song. that is usually played at the turning of the year, can be so melancholy – full of memories of who and what was before, what is left behind. Maybe it’s to remember whom we’ve known and where we came from and to be encouraged by past successes, to look ahead to see new paths that need to be taken, or to remind us to not redo past mistakes. However it sounds, it does usher in every New Year, a time considered to be of renewal and one should hope – HOPE!

The New Year, with its traditional vows of changing something, the resolutions, has always felt like the turning of a page in life to a chapter not yet written, to experiences not yet had, or to a path of possibilities. Yes, sometimes as the year unfolds there are disappointments, some that are very deep. But then, there are times during a new year when surprises and events occur that are beyond our expectations!! Whatever happens, the New Year comes and we’ll see how it unfolds…

Happy New Year, my friend, Auld Lang Syne…

May your light be bright…

Your path be clear…

And hope fill you…

As you step into the

NEW YEAR!
